Lauren Bacall's Apartment in the Dakota Fetches $21M (After a Price Chop)
Lauren Bacall’s apartment in The Dakota has closed for $21M—bringing in $2.5M less than it had been listed for in April. It was the priciest residential unit to close citywide last week, according to the New York Times.
The buyer? Oaktree Capital managing director Ronald Beck and his wife, Cynthia Lewis Beck. The 4k SF apartment had been on the market for about a year.
Its perks include a mahogany-trimmed entrance that leads to an 18-foot foyer, five wood-burning fireplaces, a 70-foot-long gallery leading to a main dining room and library, a master suite with two walk-in closets and en-suite bathrooms for both smaller bedrooms.
Bacall, who died last year, reportedly picked up the apartment for under $100k in 1961. [NYT]
