Qatari Buyer Could Smash Record for Priciest Pad in NYC
The record for the priciest pad in New York was just broken this January, when a penthouse at One57 sold for $100.5M, and already that record could be smashed to smithereens. A Qatari buyer wants to combine multiple apartments at 220 Central Park South into one big $250M penthouse, putting the rest of us mere mortals to shame. Not only would this be the most expensive pad in New York City, but also one of the most expensive in the world, The Real Deal reports. No word on the actual units in question. Penthouses 75 and 76 have undisclosed price tags and could be combined for roughly 14k SF. Meanwhile, the most expensive unit in the building is listed at $100M, but is apparently already in contract. Sales at the Robert A.M. Stern-designed building has been going strong. In May, developer Vornado Realty Trust announced it had sold $1.1B worth of units in just six weeks. It's total sellout is projected at $2.84B. [TRD]
