John Catsimatidis' plans for western Coney Island now include a trolley to improve access to the subway.

Catsimatidis' Red Apple Group development firm submitted plans for a 21-story, mixed-use tower totaling 432K SF at 3514 Surf Ave. in January. Those plans now include the "Coney Island Trolley," a San Francisco-style trolley that will run the 21 blocks from 3514 Surf to the Stillwell Avenue subway station, the Coney Island News reports.

Catsimatidis told the paper that he plans to make the Coney Island Trolley available to everyone, not just residents of 3514 Surf Ave., which is to be dubbed Ocean Dreams. He has not yet established a price structure, cautioning that the entire Ocean Dreams enterprise will be expensive, since the foundation will be above grade due to damage from Sandy.

The tower's retail plans have begun to crystallize as well, with a grocery store and pharmacy slated for the Surf Avenue side of the building and a restaurant facing the boardwalk. The building's 440 apartments will all be market rate.
