NYC & NJ Can Take Credit for Houston’s Success
Montclair, NJ, native son Lou Cushman has headed C&W’s Houston office since 1971 (he made his mark on the energy-driven market early, repping Pennzoil in its HQs lease in 1974). But before that, he spent six years learning the trade in New York, first for his dad’s company, J.C. Cushman, and then in C&W’s Wall Street office. Lou tells us he used to canvas door to door, harder than it’d be now considering elevators weren’t electronic then. And forget apps and iPhones; he kept his notes on 3- by 5-inch note cards.
