BU The Landlord
December 4, 2012
Boston University executive director of housing and dining Marc Robillard’s aim is to house as many of its 15,500 undergraduate and 8,000 graduate students as possible on campus. Doing so creates community and helps recruit top students, as university housing is more affordable than the city’s expensive market rate rentals. (Plus, isn't the best part of college forgetting that the outside world exists?) BU owns all of its student housing. It’s a better long-term investmen t, Marc tells us. Its new 208-bed graduate housing at 815 Albany St near the medical center is in its first academic year. For its next project, BU may build 500 beds of undergrad housing.
