Knotorious B.I.G.: Knotel Keeps Expanding
On-demand headquarters operator Knotel shows no signs of slowing down in its New York expansion.
Knotel has announced its first two deals of the year: a 24K SF lease at 584 Broadway in SoHo and a 15K SF expansion of its space at 1 State St. in the Financial District. The company will occupy the fourth floor of 584 Broadway on a 10-year lease with building owner Olmstead Properties.
584 Broadway was the first industrial building in SoHo to be converted to office, according to Knotel, and it will be the company's fifth location in the neighborhood, with its second-newest location just up the block at 598 Broadway.
At 1 State St., Knotel will now occupy the 10th floor in addition to the 24th and 25th floors at the Wolfson Group-owned building. The company's total square footage in the building now stands at 61K SF, more than twice as big as its flagship location in Union Square.
Although the company fell short of its 2017 goal to reach 1M SF, it cracked the 600K SF barrier at the same time as it announced plans for its first ground-up development in Gowanus.
Knotel also spent the latter portion of 2017 growing to a second city, with its first San Francisco location opening in September. It offered that location, 972 Mission St., to displaced businesses in the wake of the Bay Area wildfires last fall. The company now lists three San Francisco spaces on its website.
