Crain's Crowns Transwestern As The Best Company To Work For
Transwestern’s about to have a flood of résumés in its inbox, as Crain’s named it the Best Place to Work in NYC.
Transwestern was one of three real estate companies on the tech-dominated list, with Compstak and the Lightstone Group also making the cut.
What set Transwestern apart, Crain’s says, is its commitment to workers' health, happiness and success, offering formal mentorships, wellness programs, flexible hours, summer half-days, team outings, family-friendly events, recognition and surprise tokens of appreciation, including spa treatments and $5,000 rewards for implemented ideas.
Crain’s also praised the company’s collaborative, rather than competitive, work environment—the company eliminated broker commissions in 2014. Brokers receive bonuses based on the whole office’s performance, and can spend more time focusing on addressing client needs rather than scoring quick commissions. Agency leasing assignments have increased eight-fold since the strategy was implemented, Transwestern says.
Crain’s worked with independent research firm Best Companies Group to survey more than 28,000 workers from companies with more than 25 employees in the five boroughs. Employees and employers answered surveys with more than 85 questions covering everything from telecommuting policies to advancement opportunities. [Crain’s]
