Marquee Retailers Snap Up Prime Turf
Major retailers are acting on forecasts of a rush of consumer spending: Equinox, Lowe's, and Skechers are the latest marquee names. SL Green announced today that it inked a trifecta of long-term leases, offering a snapshot of the role heavyweights have as growth-drivers in the landlord’s portfolio. Equinox signed a 25-year, 32k SF lease for an upscale four-story fitness club at the recently redeveloped building at 10 East 53rd Street. Meanwhile, Lowe's signed a 15-year lease for a 36k SF flagship in 635-641 Sixth Avenue in Chelsea. And Skechers opted for a Times Square showcase, signing a 10-year lease for 3,200 SF at 1515 Broadway (above).
