NYC's First Pot Dispensary Could Open in Downtown Brooklyn
Last summer, Gov. Cuomo signed a tightly controlled bill that would allow five medical marijuana dispensaries to distribute pot in New York. PalliaTech is so optimistic that it's already signed a lease for 3k SF at 425 Fulton St in Brooklyn, even though the application deadline isn't until the end of the week, Crain's NY reports. The company has also landed sites in Utica, Rochester and Newburgh. EVP Andrei Bogolubov describes the vision for the dispensary as a "super-modern pharmacy." New York's strict program will have a no smoking or edibles policy. Farewell, pot brownies. Instead, registered clientele will ingest the weed in the form of oils, pills, oral sprays or vaporizers. If PalliaTech wins one of the five slots, a pot dispensary could open as soon as January, making it the city's first. [CNY]
