Bloomberg Donates $100M for Cornell Tech Campus
Michael Bloomberg, who, as mayor, inked a deal with Cornell University to build a technical school on Roosevelt Island, is donating $100M to help fund the first phase of construction. This phase will open in 2017, and include the Bloomberg Center, which will be named after his daughters Emma and Georgina. Cornell Tech's 12-acre campus will house about 2,000 students, along with hundreds of faculty and staff, increasing the presence of applied sciences and engineering in the city, Crain's New York reports. The $2B campus will have energy self-sufficient buildings, expansive views, green public spaces and indoor/outdoor areas. [Crain's]
