2 Of Avison Young's Most Prominent Brokers Decamp For Savills
Mitti Liebersohn and Arthur Mirante are leaving Avison Young after almost a decade to take up senior positions at Savills.
Liebersohn will become Savills New York chairman, while Mirante will become the firm’s North America vice chairman, Commercial Observer reported.
Mirante first joined Avison Young in 2012, where he is currently the Toronto-based firm’s principal and chairman for the Tri-State Region. He was previously Cushman & Wakefield’s CEO for 20 years.
Liebersohn became Avison Young’s president and managing director of the brokerage’s New York City office in 2015 after previously serving as vice chairman at JLL and Cushman & Wakefield.
Together, Mirante and Liebersohn are credited with increasing Avion Young’s revenue, headcount and presence in NYC. In one of their most recent deals, the pair represented Santander Bank in a February sublease deal to rent 160K SF from WeWork’s 437 Madison Ave.
“[Mirante and Liebersohn] are leaving Avison Young to pursue other opportunities in New York,” Avison Young said in a statement. “We are grateful for their contributions to the establishment and growth of our New York and Tri-State operations and we wish them well in their future endeavors.”
A spokesperson for Avison Young told Commercial Observer it will begin searching for Liebersohn’s replacement immediately, but declined to comment further.
