Nonprofits Feel Squeeze To Flip Long-Held Downtown Property

Nonprofits and trade associations are thinking twice about keeping their choice locations in Downtown Austin as the price of land reaches record highs.

The Texas Restaurant Association CEO Richie Jackson knew the property at 1400 Lavaca might one day go back on the market. TRA had owned the property since 1991, and it provided convenient access to lawmakers at the Capitol, but growing values soon…

Broken Bridges: Congress Looks For Solution To Woeful U.S. Infrastructure

With tax reform giving President Donald Trump his first legislative victory, the White House is looking to notch another win by securing funding to update the country's crumbling infrastructure.

Trump's $1 trillion infrastructure-spending agenda sat on the back burner much of last year as the new administration prioritized immigration, healthcare reform and tax overhaul. Tackling the deteriorating roads and railways of the U.S. will not be easy. Public-private partnerships are expected to be instrumental in seeing Trump's plan through to fruition, and the partnerships are often fraught with risks and challenges.

Driverless cars will impact every industry, including retail, industrial and office, according to a recent Transwestern report. But the potential hit to hotels has been a little overlooked.
