Tech-Driven Austin Doesn't Sweat Low Oil Prices

NGKF's Texas Expansion Brings Home Manhattan Magnate

Newmark is ready to make a splash across Texas, and there's a new face leading the expansion of its tenant rep business. Executive managing director Derek Myers, a Houston native, moved from NGKF's New York office to spearhead growth in Houston, Dallas, Austin and San Antonio. The first order of business: bringing revenue per broker up within each office. Newmark made headlines by acquiring ARA last year, adding multifamily to its capital markets division. The two companies recently moved under the same roof in BLVD Place, but otherwise, Newmark's been pretty quiet about its plans.

Derek's excitement about being back in his native city is apparent. The best part? “Ease and quality of life.”

So the retail giants decided on a second go-round in February 2015—and the FTC said essentially the same thing.

Bisnow Q&A: Honest Buildings CEO Riggs Kubiak On Tech, Innovation And Overfunding In Tech

With commercial real estate tech firms coming out of the woodwork recently (e.g. the many "dating sites" for office space), Bisnow sat down with Riggs Kubiak, CEO of Honest Buildings—a tech platform built for real estate players to track and manage costs—for the inside scoop on the commercial real estate tech world.

Bisnow: Give us a rundown of Honest Buildings. It's like a one-stop shop for managing your projects?

Riggs Kubiak: It is, it breaks down into three parts. The first is bid management—we have a start to finish bid-management system, basically creating a centralized hub for them to compare and manage all of their projects before they award the contract.

Tell Us

Invented in the 1940s in Tennessee, Mountain Dew was meant to be mixed with whiskey. In fact, its bottles were designed to look like moonshine, and the original Mountain Dew labels featured outhouses, stills and hay-chewing yokels. Send your news to Catie Dixon, catie@bisnow.com.
