Firms Behind The Designs For Uber's 'Flying Taxi' Skyports Discuss Uber's Wants, Reactions, Next Steps

Uber's "flying taxis" might be only five years away, but first the supporting real estate has to be addressed. 

Concepts proposed for the Skyports — part "The Jetsons" and part tiny airport — are ambitious and conceptual, based on guidelines Uber offered to potential partners: a mega-Skyport on a small footprint capable of 1,000 takeoffs and landings in an hour, where thousands of passengers could be shuttled between air, transit and car with minimal noise and maximum efficiency.

Inside The Madison Marquette-PMRG Merger That Will Create A $7B National Powerhouse

Two multibillion-dollar real estate companies are preparing to close a major merger, announced last week, that will create a $7B powerhouse with hundreds of properties around the country. Madison Marquette and PMRG's executives, in interviews with Bisnow, shed light on how the deal came together and what to expect going forward. 

The companies began discussions about a year ago. D.C.-based Madison Marquette had just brought on John Fleury as president to chart a rapid expansion and soon began looking at merger opportunities. The company, founded by Amer Hammour in 1992, had acquired some small firms in individual markets, but has never navigated a large-scale nationwide merger.

Barry Gosin And Robert Futterman On The Future of Newmark RKF

Since Newmark Group announced Tuesday it will buy New York City retail leasing and investment sales brokerage RKF for an undisclosed sum, RKF founder Robert Futterman said he has been flooded with calls from brokers and companies asking one thing: "Can we talk?"

“I am on the hunt [for talent], but I'm also being hunted,” Futterman told Bisnow in an interview. “RKF has eight offices in North America and that's with our only currency being our culture. Now we have Newmark's currency along with our culture … We are planning to position [ourselves] for the future.”
