Reimagining Dublin: It's Creaking At The Seams But Challenges Born Of Success

It is sometimes cast as The Little Engine That Could, but Ireland was the fastest growing eurozone economy for a fourth year in a row in 2017, a state of affairs that is predicted to continue until 2024.

Much of the growth can be seen across Dublin as the capital skyline once again is filled with construction cranes helping to build its future.

Growth, however, comes with challenges and many experts believe that Dublin's continued success depends on much needed investment on infrastructure in areas such as housing and transport. With the recent publication of Project Ireland 2040, the government unveiled its plans…

Expect Inward Investment To Keep Flowing: Dublin Among The Top Cities For Talent

Dublin is No. 7 out of 90 cities for its ability to attract, develop and retain talent.

That is according to the World Economic Forum's Global Talent Competitiveness Index which is carried out by international business school INSEAD.

Dublin trumped its closest neighbour London (14th) as well as Paris (ninth), Brussels (10th) and San Francisco (eighth) in the rankings.

Despite the impressive ranking for Dublin, Ireland didn't make the top countries. It ranked 13th behind New Zealand and Australia.

Six factors were examined during the compilation of the index.

The ‘attract factor' determined the openness of a city or country, and the ‘grow' factor examined how well a country or city develops its talent.

The ‘retain' factor looked at how nice it is to live in a city or country.

The ‘enable' factor studied the business and labour market and regulatory framework and whether they helped attract people.
