With a good chunk of its first Phoenix data center already leased up, CyrusOne has moved up plans to begin its second center—this time bringing up to 12 MW of power to Chandler. (With great power comes great responsibility, Chandler.) ![]() CyrusOne's Kevin Timmons tells us an unnamed company just snapped up 41k SF of its first data center, which totals 76k SF. That gave the company confidence to commence construction on the 60k SF center at its Chandler campus. (So comfort yourself in the fact that your Netflix queue is creating jobs.) ![]() We got CyrusOne's Chad Allison, Sylvia Kang, Jeff Sandquist, Salt River Project's Vicky Maurer, CyrusOne's Jeff Lawrence, Amaya Souarez, Ed Martin, Az State Rep. Jeff Dial, CyrusOne's Stuart Levinsky, Chris Napier and Kevin playing in the dirt last week. (Nobody tell their parents they were wearing their nice clothes for this.) This is just one pad site among the more than 50 acres in Phoenix for CyrusOne, which could ultimately host some 1M SF of data center space. ![]() And Phoenix (rendered here) isn't the only additional data center on tap for CyrusOne. According to company's filings with the SEC, the firm has 761k SF of space under development (along with 569k SF, powered shell space ready for customers). Data Center Deal Sheet![]() Telephone Data Systems is under contract to buy BendBroadband, an Oregon-based telecommunications company for $261M in cash, the company reports. The deal will include BendBroadband's Tier III data center facility that's used for colo and managed services focused on the cable advertising and broadcast industry. Officials say the deal is expected to close by Q3. *** Yahoo! Also reported that it sold data center assets and then leased data center space for Yahoo Japan for $11M, a deal that helps the company realize a $5M gain. ***
Digital Realty is on a development roll: The company reports that it's constructing 1.3M SF of space throughout the globe, at a cost that could reach $600M by the end of the year. Those locations include four markets in the US, two in Europe, one in Canada, and one in Singapore, which is slated to offer 371k SF of space and 30 MW of power. Digital Realty officials say most of that space should be revenue producing soon after completion. *** ![]() Nvidia is seeing an earnings boost due to data centers. The graphics chip maker—best known for its gaming graphic cards, reported revenue of $1.1B during the quarter that ended in April, up 16% from the previous year. And that's in large part to components sold to data center and cloud providers, says NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang. *** PCM is well underway with a Tier III data center cloud facility in New Albany, Ohio (on nearly eight acres of land it purchased in 2012 for $1.1M). The new facility will complement its facility in Atlanta. So far, it's tapped $2.3M in a $7.7M financing loan. *** Carter Validus Mission Critical REIT reported that it increased its borrowing capacity with KeyBank National Association by $13.5M, adding its 61k SF Charlotte data center as collateral. That ups its total borrowing ability to more than $211M, of which it has already tapped $55M. *** Endurance International Group Holdings has jumped into a data center agreement with Ace Data Centers. According to SEC filings, the company has inked a 10-year lease for nearly 9,000 SF of space at Ace's Provo facility, which will have a total financial obligation of $102M over the course of the term. |
