Commercial Real Estate Execs Arrested In Massive Bribery Scheme To Get Kids Admitted To Elite Universities

 

CEOs and presidents of major real estate and development companies were among the more than two dozen prominent and well-heeled parents involved in a massive $25M bribery scheme to get their kids admitted to some of the nation’s most elite universities.

Crown Realty & Development founder and CEO Robert Flaxman, WP Investments President Bruce Isackson, Dragon Global CEO Robert Zangrillo and John B. Wilson, a founder and CEO of an undisclosed private equity and real estate development firm, were among the 32 defendants charged with conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, according to a criminal complaint filed by the U.S. Department of Justice in Massachusetts.

Nuveen Real Estate’s Central Command For Industrial Is In Acquisition Mode, Focusing On Target-Rich Environments

When investment management firm Nuveen Real Estate opened its 11th office in Dallas this year, the firm had $125B total assets under its management worldwide and designs on creating a hub, or central U.S. office, for industrial investment activity across the nation. That new office is now based in Uptown Dallas, with Nuveen Managing Director and head of Nuveen's U.S. Industrial Sector Graydon Bouchillon leading the local industrial-focused team.

Listen Up, White Men: Diversity, Inclusion Require Your Support, Too

If diversity, inclusion and gender equality efforts will be implemented at workplaces, it will take buy-in from the dominant social group: white males.

“Members of the dominant social group help to pull everyone else up,” Piper Jaffray Chief Human Capital Officer Christine Esckilsen said at an event hosted by Hines for International Women's Day. “We need the men to be here to understand it and push things along.”   

While pushing company-wide initiatives, videos and emails about inclusion can be effective, Hines Managing Director Laura Hines-Pierce has found organizing local events that include men and women can support the dialogue on diversity issues needed to promote change.
