And What's Next

After a couple of changes in ownership in the past two years and now with a new plan to grow and expand, Radisson Hotel Group is looking to make its mark nationwide. 

In one of the hotel group's latest projects, Radisson broke ground in November on its second Radisson in Orange County, a Radisson Blu at 1601 South Anaheim Blvd., less than a mile away from Disneyland Resort and a couple of miles from Angel Stadium, Honda Center and the Anaheim Convention Center.

Portland, Oregon-based BPM Real Estate Group is developing the property.

The four-star upscale property is a 12-story, 326-key hotel with an outdoor rooftop pool and restaurant where guests will be able to see Disneyland's nightly fireworks show.  The ground-up development is scheduled to open in 2020 and comes as Disneyland…

Taco Bell Corporate Headquarters Will Remain In Irvine

The headquarters of Taco Bell will remain in Irvine.

Yum Brands, the parent company of the Tex-Mex fast-food restaurant with more than 7,000 restaurants in 28 countries, has renewed its lease for 11 years with landlord LBA Realty to occupy a five-story building totaling 180K SF at 1 Glen Bell Way in Irvine.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Cushman & Wakefield's Irvine office handled the lease negotiations.

The Hotel Industry Has Mixed Feelings About Opportunity Zones

When it comes to the new opportunity zone program that gives investors a hefty tax incentive in return for investing in designated opportunity zones that are in mostly low-income areas, many hotel executives are still leery of the federal program and how to take advantage of it.

You can't place a hotel in an area with little infrastructure, no job growth or main commercial drivers, Lifeafar Investments Chief Financial Officer Cole Shepard said.

'Muy Bueno': Economists React To January Jobs Report On Twitter

Nonfarm payroll employment increased by 304,000 jobs in January, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday, marking the country's 100th straight month of employment gains. The unemployment rate ticked up slightly to 4% from 3.9% in December.

Employment was up in several industries, including industries closely related to real estate.
