Kelemen Co. Buys 300K SF Irvine Office Tower For $106M
One of Irvine's trophy office properties near the John Wayne Airport, the 10-story Atrium, has traded for more than $100M.
In one of the biggest acquisitions made by the company, Kelemen Co. has purchased the 303K SF office building on 6.1 acres at 19100 and 19200 Von Karman Ave. from Barings Real Estate for $106.7M.
Newmark Knight Frank's Kevin Shannon, Paul Jones, Ken White, Brunson Howard and Blake Bokosky represented the seller. Kelemen was self-represented.

No Announcement, But Jeff Bezos Still Says Amazon HQ2 Will Be Decided By Year-End
More than 1,000 D.C. business leaders were on hand Thursday evening in the hopes of hearing a big announcement from Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, but the richest man in the world declined to give any new information on his company's search for a second headquarters.
"We will announce the decision before the end of this year," Bezos told the Economic Club of Washington D.C. "We've made tremendous progress. The team is working their butts off on it and we will get there."
Carlyle Group co-founder and Economic Club President David Rubenstein, who was interviewing Bezos, followed up by lightly suggesting the head of the Seattle-based company might want to locate in another Washington area.

Glow Sticks, Pets And Sensitivity Training: How Hotels In Atlanta And Charlotte Are Handling A Rush Of Florence Evacuees
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — When guests arrived at Washington Duke Inn and Golf Club and JB Duke Hotel in nearby Durham, North Carolina, over the past few days, they were greeted with unusual arrival gifts: glow sticks and flashlights.
Both of the hotels expected to be nearly at capacity Monday for scheduled conferences, but all of their conference guests canceled in anticipation of Hurricane Florence's arrival. That allowed space for the hotel to accommodate some of the million-plus hurricane evacuees that were ordered to leave their coastal towns in the Carolinas and Virginia.
American Red Cross officials said more than 20,000 people stayed overnight Saturday in more than 200 Red Cross and Community Shelters in North and South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, Maryland and Kentucky.
