Blackwood's Mixed-Use Development One
Of The Largest In Placentia In Decades

What is making Placentia a destination city? Find out at Bisnow's Future Of Anaheim, Placentia and Santa Ana on May 31.

Blackwood Real Estate partner Gilad Ganish says the name of his company's massive mixed-use development in Placentia is fitting — Centerpointe.

Tucked in the 500 block of West Crowther Avenue, the proposed 418-unit apartment with ground-floor commercial retail project sits within a five- to six-mile radius of Disneyland, Angel Stadium, California State University Fullerton, downtown Fullerton, Brea Mall, Yorba Linda and plenty of breweries, he said.

“It's a great location with amazing visibility,” Ganish said. “It's a good project for people who want to live closer to where they work or be surrounded with a lot of activities.”

Ganish will be discussing the future of Placentia at Bisnow's Neighborhood Series: Anaheim, Placentia and Santa Ana May 31.  Unlike some of its popular North Orange County neighbors, such as Anaheim, Fullerton and Brea, Placentia, with a population of 50,000 residents,…

The Future Of Medical Transportation Is Ride-Sharing

When John Parker's friend needed a lift to his medical appointment in Malibu from Simi Valley, his buddy didn't call an ambulance or have his wife or neighbor drive him; instead the 75-year-old hailed a ride-sharing service.

Parker said his friend's insurance covered the ride for the trip to the doctor's office.

Uber and Lyft, they are so much more efficient now,” said Parker, the chief financial officer at Parker Brown, a San Fernando-based construction company that specializes in building medical facilities.

ICSC Is Commercial Real Estate Professionals' Super Bowl

RKF Vice Chairman Robert Cohen is in his 25th year attending the International Council of Shopping Centers' RECon event and he said his purpose has remained the same: to get the deal, you have to meet as many retail professionals, landlords and developers as possible.

“It's the deal-making conference in our industry,” said Cohen, who has been attending the conference since the early 1990s.

With an estimated attendance of 37,000 people and 12,000 booths, ICSC's RECon is known as the largest retail real estate convention in the world.

'Tax On Jobs' Repeal Efforts Already Underway In This City

Local business leaders are slamming the Seattle City Council's decision to impose a head tax on the city's top employers. Calling it a "tax on jobs," those who oppose the tax say the city is doing too little to help the homeless with the funds it already has. There is little trust that the new funds raised will put much of a dent in solving the problem, but it does make Seattle seem less business-friendly, they said.

The new tax will charge companies that gross more than $20M a year a $275-per-employee head tax. That is about half of what the originally proposed tax would have been.

Just days after the city council's unanimous vote to pass the tax, a petition to repeal the tax is already circulating.
