California Markets Dominate Fall/Winter New Office Deliveries

Fall and winter will be busy for California's biggest office markets. Technology, advertising, media and information tenants are driving demand in California, and 13M SF will be added to the office stock through the end of the year, according to a CommercialCafé report based on Yardi Matrix data. California makes up nearly a third of the nation's new 48M SF of office. The Bay Area will deliver more office than New York with its expected delivery of 7M SF through winter. New York is expected to deliver 5.1M SF of office, the most of a single city.

As LGBT Baby Boomers Retire, They Are Finding Few Senior Housing Options Dedicated To Them

Three years ago Kelly Kent's organization, SAGE, decided it was time to jump into the housing game.

With the help of two developers, the country's oldest nonprofit dedicated to issues surrounding lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender adults and seniors will break ground on two affordable LGBT senior housing projects in New York City this year.

But Kent said the two developments are not nearly enough to fill the void in the senior housing market — not with the number of seniors in the LGBT community estimated to hit 7 million by 2035.
