The Future Of Medical Transportation
Is Ride-Sharing

Lyft Regional Vice President Daniel Trigub will speak about the company's partnership with insurance companies and how ride-sharing is shaping the future of healthcare at National Healthcare West.

Parker said his friend's insurance covered the ride for the trip to the doctor's office.

Uber and Lyft, they are so much more efficient now,” said Parker, the chief financial officer at Parker Brown, a San Fernando-based construction company that specializes in building medical facilities.

Parker said it is getting harder for elderly people — especially those with significant others who may be around the same age — to get to medical appointments or hospitals. "It's much easier to put him in a ride-share and for…

ICSC Is Commercial Real Estate Professionals' Super Bowl

RKF Vice Chairman Robert Cohen is in his 25th year attending the International Council of Shopping Centers' RECon event and he said his purpose has remained the same: to get the deal, you have to meet as many retail professionals, landlords and developers as possible.

“It's the deal-making conference in our industry,” said Cohen, who has been attending the conference since the early 1990s.

Mayoral candidate Mark Leno currently serves as California state senator for the 11th Senate District and previously held a seat in the state assembly and served on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. He has run a small business in San Francisco for over 40 years.

Does California Have The Political Will To Fix The Housing Crisis? Probably Not.

San Diego County will need 171,000 new residential units by 2029, or 17,000/year until then, to keep up with projected demand. Unless there is unexpected, radical change in the political and regulatory environment locally and at the state level, that isn't going to happen, Building Industry Association of San Diego County President and CEO Borre Winckel said.

"It will take bold action by bold politicians to turn the ship around," Winckel said. "It has to come locally, because Sacramento cannot be expected to lead us out of this mess. So far, the best helpful action has been…

'Tax On Jobs' Repeal Efforts Already Underway In This City

Local business leaders are slamming the Seattle City Council's decision to impose a head tax on the city's top employers. Calling it a "tax on jobs," those who oppose the tax say the city is doing too little to help the homeless with the funds it already has. There is little trust that the new funds raised will put much of a dent in solving the problem, but it does make Seattle seem less business-friendly, they said.

The new tax will charge companies that gross more than $20M a year a $275-per-employee head tax. That is about half of what the originally proposed tax would have been.

Just days after the city council's unanimous vote to pass the tax, a petition to repeal the tax is already circulating.
