This City Is On Verge Of A Coworking Explosion And Landlords Are Taking Note

The rapid growth of coworking in San Francisco among both large, branded providers and small independent operators has led to a shifting attitude among landlords. 

Two to three years ago, landlords were less willing to consider this type of tenant, but now they are actively seeking to partner with coworking providers to create a better tenant mix within their portfolios.

While many landlords have been actively leasing large blocks of space to the likes of WeWorkwhich is now the fourth-largest San Francisco tenant, many are seeking high-end boutique providers that target specific demographics. Coworking sites also double as a building amenity and service.

Colliers Jumping On The Big Data Bandwagon With PropTech Founder Hire

One of the country's largest commercial real estate brokerages is boosting its big data strategy with a major tech hire.

Colliers International tapped Jake Edens as its new head of technology and innovation strategy. Edens is the founder of REscour, a platform that marries available public commercial real estate data with a company's proprietary data. Colliers also partnered with REscour last month.

Data Center Market Profitable, But Older Properties Need To Keep On Their Toes

Want to make big bucks? Consider getting into data centers, but be prepared to shell out to upgrade them every decade or so.

"The data center market has been booming since 2012, both in terms of new construction and global demand," Microsoft Chief Technology Advisor Dave Crowley said. He will be presenting at Bisnow's Data Center Investment Conference & Expo South on June 26 at the Infomart Dallas. "Profit potential for data center owners remains strong and margins are better than those available for other kinds of commercial construction, including Class-A office space."
