Hundreds of D.C.'s top commercial real estate professionals gathered at The Ritz-Carlton Monday evening to celebrate the annual CREBA Awards, recognizing the highest performing and most influential brokers in the industry for 2018. Here are the big winners:
Joseph Stettinius Jr. Leadership Award:
Boston Properties Senior Executive Vice President Ray Ritchey Ritchey, who joined Boston Properties nearly 40 years ago, has led the development firm's D.C. office to a series of major leasing wins over the last two years. After receiving his award from last year's winner, Linda Rabbitt, he said it is special to see brokers who compete with each other during the day come together to celebrate the year's achievements, something he doesn't see happen in other industries.
"Only in the brokerage community do we come together with mutual respect and affection for everybody in this room," Ritchey said. "I am with a development company, but I consider myself first and foremost a Washington, D.C., real estate broker, and I'm so incredibly proud of that designation. On my tomb stone it will be 'Ray Ritchey, Boston Properties, Street Broker.'"
Brendan McCarthy Memorial Award:
Brandywine Realty Trust Senior Vice President Janet Davis Davis began her D.C. commercial real estate career as a leasing agent for Trammell Crow Co. in 1981, before joining Prentiss Properties in 1985 and Brandywine Realty Trust in 2006. She is also a co-chair of the Georgetown University Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, Breast Cancer Research Fund.
