Dinner With Kurt Strasmann
We did our best to help Gulfstream live up to its rep as the real estate hangout by meeting CBRE's Kurt Strasmann there. The 25-year ex-Grubb vet marks his second anniversary in March as co-head (with Jeff Moore) of the 320-employee Orange County regionwhich is not just office and industrial as you'd guess, but also valuation/appraisal, debt and equity, retail, investment sales, property management, project management, financial services, asset services, HRthe works. The Long Beach native, who was a pole vaulter at UC Berkeley, has a second role at CBRE--serving in the region (LA, OC, and IE) as the Industrial Functional Business Line Leader (over 100 selling industrial professionals within the region). And even keeping up with three kids, he's such an intellectual that last weekend, to prep for watching the Oscars, he not only saw Zero Dark Thirty but even read the book it was based on, No Easy Day, although he notes that was the SEAL version whereas the movie was the CIA view. And we didn't even know there was a book.
