What You Don't Know About Barry Saywitz
Position: President of The Saywitz Co.
Background: Barry grew up in Chicago and moved to La Jolla for high school. After graduating from UCLA, he was a tennis and golf pro for Club Med in the Bahamas for a time, beginning his real estate career in OC with Howard Ecker & Co. Barry purchased the West Coast operations of the company in 1994 and changed the name to The Saywitz Co, which today owns and manages more than 50 multifamily buildings throughout SoCal, and is a multi-faceted investment and brokerage firm. He currently resides in Newport Beach with his son Ryan.

Known for: Last year, Saywitz was involved in negotiations for DRS Technologies and its SoCal HQ, a 100k SF deal, and one of the largest office transactions in the county. Saywitz has been involved in the negotiations for more than 2M SF of industrial space in SoCal, and was instrumental in the refi of more than $35M for the company’s investment portfolio.
Currently working on: Transactions totaling more than 2.2M SF of office, industrial and flex requirements in San Diego, OC, LA and IE.
First Job: Shoveling snow off of neighborhood driveways at age 12, for extra weekend cash in the winter.

Startling Fact: Saywitz used to be 6’4” prior to the downturn in the economy.
Advice to 18-Year-Old-Self: Don’t be in a hurry to grow up, you have plenty of time for that.
