Great Wolf Lodge Opens In Garden Grove
The much anticipated $250M, 600-room Great Wolf Lodge Southern California—the largest newly constructed hotel in California—includes a 100k SF indoor water park and 18k SF of retail. The hotel, from a JV of Great Wolf Resorts and Colorado developer McWhinney, opened last Friday in Garden Grove.
The woodland-themed, family-oriented resort, which was designed by Ware Malcomb Architects, is on 12 acres at 12681 Harbor Blvd, not far from Disneyland. A 700-room hotel and 200-room boutique hotel are planned on nearby vacant lots, reports the Orange County Register.
With Garden Grove’s proximity to Disneyland, the addition of new hotels, and the city’s Little Saigon already a popular shopping and dining destination, Anaheim’s poorer neighbor is anticipating the economic boost from tourist dollars and additional tax revenue. [OCR]
