County OKs Tax Plan for Rancho Mission Viejo
Orange County approved a new $110M Mello Roos tax district to facilitate the second phase of Rancho Mission Viejo, known as Esencia. The tax revenue generated by the district will repay OC for various infrastructure improvements it's making on the land in unincorporated areas of South County. Ultimately, Rancho Mission Viejo—on the site of part of an expansive 19th-century ranch being developed by a company called The Ranch—will include 14,000 residential properties and 5M SF of retail space, according to the OC Register. Residents began moving into the first phase, Sendro, last summer. [OCR]
