Last Site in Ladera Ranch Breaks Ground
Work is underway on the 120k SF Ladera Sports Center, a $35M solar-powered multi-use facility in Ladera Ranch. The complex—being built on the last available land approved for development in Ladera Ranch, which self-storage specialist SmartStop acquired in 2010—will open next summer. Snapped: R.D. Olson president Bill Wilhelm, SmartStop Self Storage president Michael Schwartz, Robert R. Coffe + Associates Architects' Robert Coffee, R.D. Olson Construction's Chris Jensen, and Lutzky Development president Rick Lutzky.
The complex will be built on four acres next to the 100k SF SmartStop flagship facility. It will include eight full-sized basketball/volleyball courts, a 60k SF public gym, student study rooms, a 3,380 SF strength and conditioning space, and gym offices. The project will also include a 42k SF storage facility; an expansion of the existing adjacent SmartStop Self Storage facility; a private fitness center; and office space for SmartStop’s expanding HQ.
