Anaheim Approves 15-Acre Link OC Mixed-Use Development
Houston-based Hines Interests has received the green light from the Anaheim Planning Commission to build a mixed-use development of 400-plus apartments and retail alongside existing offices and a shopping center.
Link OC will consist of 5K SF of retail and two modern-style apartment buildings totaling 406 units with a mix of studio, one- and two-bedroom units. The development will feature bike and walking paths, a dog park and a rooftop deck.
The planning commission approved the project in March.
Hines will demolish an existing 26K SF office and warehouse building and remove 310K SF of parking lots. The company plans to renovate some of the surrounding areas, according to the staff report.
The 15-acre Link OC project at 1041 and 1065 North Pacificenter Drive and 1081 North Tustin Ave. will be the first mixed-use project since the city rezoned the former industrial Anaheim Canyon area.
Link OC, which sits next to the Riverside 91 freeway and the Anaheim Canyon Metrolink Station, is part of broader effort by the city to create more transit-oriented communities and developments next to the city’s major job centers.
The Anaheim Canyon area is home to Kaiser Permanente, Walt Disney offices, Pacific Sunwear, Universal Alloy Corp. and other businesses.
Anaheim Senior Planner Scott Koehm previously told the Register the city plans to add 500 to 1,000 more housing units next to the Metrolink station.
Link OC is expected to be completed by 2020.
