Live Nation Would Help Run Temporary Amphitheater In Irvine If Approved
A temporary, 12,000-seat amphitheater for summertime music events could soon be built in Irvine if Live Nation and FivePoint have their way.
The Irvine City Council is scheduled to vote on it on March 14. If approved, it could open in late summer.
The temporary amphitheater would be built near the Orange County Great Park. FivePoint submitted plans last September to build it as a replacement for the Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre, which closed after 35 years in October to make way for Irvine Co.’s Los Olivos apartments, the Orange County Register reports.
As part of the proposal, Live Nation would design and build the venue and operate it for three years.
Irvine wants to build a similar permanent facility in the area.
