Goodbye, Denver. Chipotle Executives Call Newport Beach Home
Executives for fast-casual Mexican restaurant brand Chipotle are now settling into their new home in Newport Beach.
According to local reports, Chipotle executives have officially relocated from Denver to their new temporary offices on the 13th and 14th floors at 610 Newport Center Drive next to the Fashion Island Newport outdoor mall.
Chipotle is subleasing 22,667 SF of office space from CareerBuilder, according to the Orange County Business Journal.
A Chipotle spokeswoman told National Restaurant News that the “entire leadership team has relocated and are now based in Southern California.”
The office space is temporary until Chipotle finds a permanent headquarters, the Orange County Register reports.
The move comes a few months after newly hired CEO Brian Niccols, who had served as CEO of YUM Brands' Taco Bell division in Irvine and has a home in Newport Beach, announced Chipotle would close its New York office and Denver headquarters to relocate to Southern California.
Niccols cited increased competition and the need to attract talent in the industry as reasons for the move.
Chipotle is slated to officially close the Denver location, which had about 400 employees, and New York office, which had 32 employees, next month.
It is unclear how many executives relocated to Newport Beach.
