HOW TO RECORD RAW POWER
Jeff Peterson, executive vice president of American Utility Management
Pay atttention, owner-operators: Legislation recently introduced in city council says it's time for Philly to join NYC, Austin, Seattle and DC on the energy efficiency benchmarking front. Only commercial buildings 50k SF and larger are affected, and the EPA's Portfolio Manager will act as the online tracking program to measure energy and water consumption. AUM's Jeff Peterson says that even owners who couldn't care less about their carbon footprint will probably still benefit from benchmarking. "Why would an industrial owner do this?" Jeff asks. "It's really to find the properties and the systems that can save them money down the road." (Then again, there's also the hefty noncompliance fine.)
