LEED for MOB
LEED matters in medical office buildings, Matrix Development Group SVP Richard Johnson tells us. It allows a medical tenant to operate a work environment on an extremely cost-efficient basis for energy-related expenses, he says, which comprise a significant portion of an MOB's total occupancy costs. (As long as they don't start reusing needles, we're behind them 100%.) Besides, a commitment to sustainability can establish a marketing advantage for a medical tenant. One of Matrix's MOB developments--a 12k SF structure in Bucks County, built for Lower Bucks Pediatrics, above--gained LEED certification.
