THE CALL OF THE MALL
March 22, 2012
Speaking of the King of Prussia community and its eponymous shopping mall (still the second-largest in America, but we've got our tape measurer ever handy), it seems they've hopped on the neighborhood redevelopment bandwagon as well. (Watch out, Minneapolis!) This week, we met up with King of Prussia Mall's GM Bob Hart, who gave us the inside scoop on not just one, but twomajor expansions on the mega mall's to-do list. |
Already well under way is a two-story, 123k SF demo-and-construction project on the site of the former Strawbridge's building that will offer space for 10 new “higher-end stores, most of which aren't found in the Philadelphia market,” Bob says. |
Bob mugging with King of Prussia Rotary Club president Carl Pinto. (Bob was the club's previous president.) A second 140k SF expansion project will finally connect the mall's two buildings. According to Bob, who assured us that he and his management team are bullish on the arrival of the neighboring Valley Forge Casino Resort, "the mall's economy has been strong over the last two years; the consumer has come back." |
