Waterfront Square Adding Second Building To Delaware River Waterfront

The Delaware River waterfront in Northern Liberties is about to get a new addition to its growing skyline.

GY Properties has begun the second phase of the Waterfront Square project, a new $18M multifamily building adjacent to its existing condo tower.

Construction is underway on the 190K SF building at 933 N. Penn St., Harman Deutsch Ohler, the architectural firm in charge of the project, told Bisnow.

The seven-story Class-A building will include 193 units upon completion, HDO associate partner Eric Quick said in an email.

“Our design approach maintains cohesion with the overall project while responding uniquely to the building's massing,” Quick said of the property, which will include repeating white metal panel projections and recessed balcony voids contrasted against contextual red brick planes.

The building will add to the cohesive feel of the entire waterfront, he said. Amenities include 75 parking spaces and 65 bicycle stalls, coworking spaces, an outdoor courtyard and dog run, a fitness center, a movie lounge and a roof deck.

A timeline for completion of the second phase hasn't been set.

Once completed, the Waterfront Square project will comprise five buildings surrounding a 3-acre park, according to the Delaware River Waterfront Corp.

GY Properties' condo project at 933 N. Penn St. features a 24-hour concierge and gated entry attendant, along with private shuttle services and valet parking. It also boasts a 12K SF fitness center with a spa.

Just across the street from those two properties, GY Properties has also completed Five on Canal, a 500-unit apartment complex that opened Friday.

GY Properties didn't respond to requests for comment.
