Heinz Factory Sold In Allentown, To Be Converted To Distribution Center
Kraft Heinz Co. has sold its factory in Allentown, in the Lehigh Valley industrial submarket, where it will be demolished and replaced with a distribution center.
The 907K SF Kraft Heinz Food Manufacturing & Distribution building at 7352 Industrial Blvd. was built in 1972, and its namesake company sold the property to Ridgeline Property Group for a price of $36.5M, CoStar reports.
Ridgeline plans to demolish the factory building in favor of a two-building distribution center, which is planned to total 1.46M SF and be called Park 100 Logistics Center. Construction on the new facility is scheduled to begin in 2017.
The sale, and the new plans for the property, represents a continued shift away from manufacturing to distribution at industrial sites across the country, and Pennsylvania is no exception.
