Historic North Broad Stable Building To Get Mixed-Use Renovation
Another mixed-use project is underway on North Broad Street, and this one is an adaptive reuse of a 19th-century building.
North Broad Living Management is overseeing the redevelopment of the E. Hart Stable building into a mixed-use project that plans to maintain the historic façade, with a seven-story building rising behind the original front that will contain 41 apartments above 5K SF of ground-floor retail, Curbed Philadelphia reports.
The building, erected in 1867 by an unknown architect, sits at 631 North Broad, between Spring Garden and Fairmount streets. Over its long life, it has been home to a variety of business tenants. Most recently, it was home to Calderwood Gallery and was sold in 2015 for $2.5M. The project will go up at a similar time as, and less than half a mile away from, the larger mixed-use project Hanover North Broad.
