Virginia Developer Breaks Ground On Multifamily Complex In Exton
Another influx of apartments is coming to the growing Exton area.
McLean, Virginia-based Jefferson Apartment Group announced on Thursday that it has broken ground on Parkview at Oaklands, a four-building, 291-unit apartment community with 23 acres of green space. The complex's 312K SF of rentable space is split between two three-story buildings and two four-story buildings.
JAG was brought on board as partners by landowners Jim Gorman and Chris Knauer, and it will serve as the developer and day-to-day operating member. Gorman and Knauer are both founders and principals of Oaklands Business Parks, which owns and manages Oaklands Corporate Center.
Parkview's plot sits adjacent to the 305-acre, 11-building corporate campus, which serves largely as a hub for research and development offices. Outdoor amenities spread throughout the plot include a resort-style pool, multiple courtyards with fire pits and a dog park. The land also will be directly connected to the local Chester Valley Trail, and 2 miles from the Whitford SEPTA station.
Construction is scheduled to complete in 2020, a few months after leasing begins. As it goes up, it won't be alone — Hankin Group is planning 1,000 multifamily units in the area over the next few years as well.
