Philly Mormon Temple Tops Off With Angel Moroni
The Mormon temple under construction at 17th and Vine streets in Center City reached a major milestone at the beginning of the year with a topping out of sorts. The structure's gilded Angel Moroni statue has been placed atop the highest part of the building.
Statues of this kind don't always adorn the highest reaches of Mormon temples, but when they do, it signifies that completion is near, the Philadelphia Business Journal reports. Work on the temple, which was designed by Jeffrey Stebar of the Atlanta office of Perkins+Will, started in 2011. [PBJ]
