St. Benjamin's Brewery Adds A Brewhouse, With A Taproom To Follow
St. Benjamin's Brewing Co is set to substantially increase its operations with a brewhouse already built and a new taproom on the way this summer.
The Kensington brewery has received a $25k business grant from the American Street Empowerment Zone towards the building of the taproom, which is planned to have 50 seats, a kitchen, 12 taps and a beer engine. It's scheduled to open sometime in the summer, the Philadelphia Business Journal reports.
The German-made brewhouse, completed in February, will take production capacity from 440 barrels a year to 4,400. The brewery also plans to start canning its beer with help from River City Cannery in Maryland. [PBJ]
