New Green-Powered Data Center To Rise Near Sky Harbor
Data center specialist IO is again betting big on its home market of Phoenix—and on sustainability—with plans for a data center near Sky Harbor. IO recently acquired more than nine acres at the northeast corner of 48th and Van Buren from Longmeadow Properties for more than $8M.
Cushman & Wakefield executive director Jim Wilson, who repped the locally based IO, tells us the new $500M data center on the site will be the country's largest renewable-powered data center. The company currently operates a data center at 615 N 48th St, adjacent to the newly acquired property.
IO operates six data centers worldwide, two of which are in Arizona, with one in Phoenix. The current Phoenix data center offers more than 120 MW of core power, and the new facility will add another 100. The new facility is in the design phase, with the exact configuration of its green power sources being determined. IO plans to complete construction before year-end '17.
