Historic Farmers & Stockmens Bank Building Rejuvenated
Cuningham Group Architecture has leased the landmark Farmers & Stockmens Bank building and will move into the building once renovations are complete this fall. The structure is one of two in Phoenix designed by William Leonard Pereira, famous for designing San Francisco's Transamerica pyramid, and has been certified as a historic structure by the City of Phoenix Historic Preservation Office.
“For a firm such as ours that deeply respects good design, it is an honor to make this landmark our home,” Cuningham Group principal Nabil Abou-Haidar says. “There is a clean-lined simplicity to the building that remains attractive to this day. It is certainly an approach we bring forward in contemporary architecture for our clients, and in our other offices around the world.”
One of the most iconic features of the 6k SF building at 5001 East Washington St is a mezzanine that overlooks the original bank lobby. It will be preserved and updated to give the space a more modern feel, as pictured above.
