Former Superfund Site Could Generate $46M In Annual Taxes
A former Superfund site in Troutdale has the potential to deliver 3,500 jobs once fully developed, which could translate to $46M in annual state and local taxes. These figures are estimated by the EPA based on the site’s size and capacity for development.
Troutdale Reynolds Industrial Park’s sprawling 700 acres have undergone extensive cleanup efforts since the Port of Portland purchased the site in 2007, the Portland Business Journal reports. Formerly home to Reynolds Metal Co, the structure was demolished by then-owner Alcoa in the early 2000s, leaving a rather large mess behind. FedEx Ground has already set up shop, basing its regional hub at the park and paying $1.2M in property taxes alone in 2014. [PBJ]
