A new survey released by DHM Research reports that 6 in 10 voters in the Portland metro area would support changing Oregon’s laws to allow for rent control policies. About 52% of Willamette Valley voters were supportive of repealing the ban on rent control policies, but the rest of the state wasn’t so excited about it, with only 42% in support. The survey was conducted via phone and included 517 registered voters. 56% of Portland-area voters said they felt housing is not too affordable or not at all affordable.

State House Speaker Tina Kotek recently called for a repeal of the state’s rent control ban, The Oregonian reports. She told affordable-housing advocates she’s planning to seek legislation next year to address this repeal and to end no-cause evictions.
