Portland No. 5 Healthiest City In The Nation
Portland is the No. 5 healthiest place out of the 150 largest U.S. cities, in a WalletHub report that aims to quantify that somewhat nebulous concept. Places that are known to be healthy tend to attract young talent, making the concept of a healthy city important to economic and real estate growth.
To determine places that prioritize residents’ well-being, WalletHub compared cities across 34 key indicators of good health. Its data set includes “cost of doctor visit,” “fruit and vegetable consumption” and “fitness clubs per capita.”
San Francisco was the healthiest city, followed by Salt Lake City, Scottsdale, Ariz., Seattle, and then Portland. The least healthy city? Detroit.
