The new San Diego County Operations Center and Annex redevelopment in Kearny Mesa has already brought home some Gold, and now it's going for Platinum—in LEED. Lowe Enterprises has completed construction on the 47-acre project?s second phase. (It's ahead of schedule and under budget, which should merit a medal alone.) This phase, which sports artwork by local San Diego artists, included a pair of 150k SF, four-story office buildings pursuing LEED Gold, plus a green roof-topped 15k SF conference center and cafeteria that is expected to earn Platinum. (Phase one garnered LEED Gold when it was completed in 2010.) The next phase, including two additional office buildings, kicks off this fall.
