Construction Also Finding Its Legs
Suffolk San Diego COO Wayne Hickey tells us that the local construction industry has seen positive growth in recent months, and it's expected to continue. Broad economic improvement and stability has developers willing to push ahead on a number of projects that had been postponed and put off. He adds that the San Diego construction market often follows several months behind an uptick in other major metro areas along the West Coast, and “we’ve seen positive growth our other key markets in the west, including San Francisco and Los Angeles.”
Suffolk San Diego has been busy lately, which Wayne says points to a strong environment for construction, completing projects such as the San Diego Zoo’s Safari Park Tiger Trail Exhibit and, most recently, the Diamond Neighborhoods Family Health Center (pictured). The 23k SF health center, designed by Davy Architecture and with Hughes Marino as the construction manager, is a three-story medical center with a child-friendly waiting room, multiple exam rooms, private medical offices, lab space, a conference room for staff, and a multi-purpose room.
