Global Renewable Energy Company Eyes Valley Center Solar Farm Project
BayWa, a global renewable energy company, is aiming for a massive solar park in San Diego.
BayWa R.E. filed permits with the City of San Diego for a solar farm that will encompass 27 acres on an unspecified 40-acre site in Valley Center. “The [major use permit] boundary would include a fenced solar property plus the existing and proposed landscaped screening areas,” officials wrote in the permit application. The company's Irvine office is spearheading the effort. BayWa has many solar, wind and biomass plants across the globe, including this solar field in England. Most recently, the firm sold its largest American wind farm—in South Dakota—for $143M to Northwestern Energy.
