Major Transformation Planned for Luce Auditorium
A WWII-era auditorium is going to see new life as a six-theater movie house and events space. Backlot Hospitality and NTC Foundation have plans to transform the former Luce Auditorium at Liberty Station. Backlot will renovate the 20k SF facility, slated to be called The Lot/Liberty Station, for a late autumn opening, reports the San Diego Business Journal. The theater will be part of the overhaul of the former Navy training base into a mixed-use project that includes office, retail and eventually residential and hotel across its 500 acres, partially redeveloped by Corky McMillin.
